MAYOR CLANCY'S BIOGRAPHY

Mayor Edward J. “Chip” Clancy, Jr. is in his second year of his second four year term as Mayor of the City of Lynn. Before his election to this office, "Chip" represented Lynn and surrounding communities in the State Legislature as our State Senator from the First Essex District and our State Representative from the Eleventh Essex District.

He also served our community as a member of the Lynn City Council for twelve years
(1978 - 1981 and 1984 - 1991).

Education

He is a graduate of St. Mary’s High School (1968), Providence College, Cum Laude (1972) and received his Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School (1975). He is a member of the Massachusetts and Lynn Bar Associations. He is married (Beth) and has a stepson. Clancy also served the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as an Assistant Attorney General for four years after graduating from Law School.

Legislature

Clancy was chosen as “LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR FOR 1995” by the Massachusetts Police Association; “LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR FOR 1996” by the Technology Education Association of Massachusetts (TEAM) and “LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR FOR 1996” by the Essex County Bar Association.

In 1997, he was named “LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR” by the Massachusetts Boating & Yacht Clubs Assoc. Inc. and in 2002 he received a "LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT SERVICE AWARD" from the Technology Education Association of Massachusetts.
