RECONSTRUCTION - INCLUDING TRAFFIC SIGNALS:
INTERSECTIONS OF CHESTNUT AND MAPLE STREET, LYNN

DPW Commissioner Jay Fink has announced that the Massachusetts Highway Department has finally begun the long expected intersection reconstruction, including traffic signals, at the intersection of Chestnut and Maple Streets this week.  Area residents, pedestrians, parishioners and children attending St. Pius V School as well as vehicular traffic will be affected in the Ward One and Ward Two locations, indefinitely.
“While Mass. Highway has coordinated an aggressive schedule outlined to include mobilization and installation of signage in the Chestnut Street/Maple Street locations, we are attempting to satisfy all factions as completely and quickly as possible.  The roadway, traffic signals and temporary patching will be ongoing, with adjustments provided as needed.  Later in the month, sidewalks will be removed and excavations will also occur as needed.  Where and when applicable, new granite curbs have been approved to be set on sidewalks and handicapped ramps will also be installed, where appropriate, finalized by the installation of traffic cabinets for traffic lights,” stated Commissioner Fink.
While we are very anxious and pleased with the intended program, we ask all area residents to be cognizant of this initiative and to be tolerant of the required timeframe for a successful reconstruction”.  Should residents have concerns, and require assistance, they are encouraged to contact the Water & Sewer Department for water and drainage issues, their individual Ward Councillor and or DPW Associate Commissioner Manny Alcantara who is handling the logistics for the DPW at (781) 268-8000
