The Personnel Department coordinates all civil service and non-civil service hiring for the City of Lynn.

Civil Service Exams: The Human Resources Division of Boston schedules the examinations.  Information and applications for civil service exams and the Continuous Testing Program (ConTest) can be obtained in the Personnel Department.

8:30 AM - 4:00 PM Monday, Wednesday & Thursday 
8:30 AM - 8:00 PM Tuesday
8:30 AM - 12:30 PM Friday 

Salary/Hourly: 1st step - $48,091.66
2nd Step - $49,648.78
3rd Step - $53,728.89

Qualifications: A person duly licensed as a plumber and gas fitter by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts State Examiners of Plumbers and Gas Fitters.

Duties:

-To review the applications and plans for the installation, repair, alternation or replacement of plumbing and gas fitting systems for compliance with all applicable codes and ordinances.

-To enforce the Commonwealth of Massachusetts State Plumbing and Gas Codes and all City of Lynn ordinances authorized.

-To inspect and test all plumbing and gas installations in process of construction, alternation, replacement and repair for which permits have been issued for compliance with all applicable codes and ordinances.

-Investigates complaints of violation of codes or ordinances and take action required to correct condition.

-Interprets and gives advice on and enforces plumbing and gas fitting laws and ordinances.

-Issues permits for plumbing and gas fitting and keeps records of all inspections,

-Must be able to pass CORI.
